About Me
My name is Alicia Perrone. I grew up in Repentigny which is located in the suburbs of Montreal. However, my family comes from Southern Italy and Gaspésie. Growing up, I was a very emotional child, and I wasn’t afraid to show how I felt. Nowadays, my art focuses mostly on emotion and vulnerability. I learned to channel my feelings into what I was making. I also loved watching romance, fantasy, supernatural, horror, and suspense films. I am a big reader as well. My writing typically focuses on more fictional storylines because I can explore unrealistic aspects. My short films are more non-fiction. I tend to create documentaries and spoken word when it comes to video production.
I will always try something once. Even if it is uncomfortable, there is no point of staying in my comfort zone because I will learn nothing from it. I have mostly created work in the frame of school assignments, but I have always had my own side projects.
I get inspiration from lots of different media. For example, novels, films, television shows, museums, music, images, quotes, poetry, dreams, etc. As soon as inspiration strikes, I write it down and start developing the idea. Creating alongside these projects truly boosts my inspiration. I love making moodboards and playlists for these projects to get a general vibe for these ideas.
My goal when creating is to get out of my own comfort zone and to be as vulnerable as I can be.
I hope that when people view my art and consume it that they just see the human experience at its core. Pure and raw human emotion and experiences that we all go through. When it comes to my writing, I hope readers take away not only emotion, but that they open their minds to less realistic topics and immerse themselves in these fictional realities. I hope certain themes and topics stick with others and leave an impact.
